The Asphalt Pavement Association is Accepting Nominations for the 2020 Perpetual Pavement Award

The Perpetual Pavement Award is an excellent opportunity to highlight asphalt's long-life characteristics. The award honors state and local agencies that have had the foresight to design and build asphalt pavements which have long life, are cost-effective, and provide the comfort and convenience that the traveling public expects.

The APA invites you to submit an entry for the 2020 Perpetual Pavement Award. Applications will be reviewed by engineers at the National Center for Technology (NCAT). The deadline for nominations is December 1, 2020. Winners will be announced in the first quarter of 2021.

Asphalt Pavement Alliance Announces Winners of 2019 Perpetual Pavement Award

Twelve departments of transportation (DOTs) were named winners of the 2019 Perpetual Pavement Award (PPA) by the Asphalt Pavement Alliance (APA). This is a record number of PPAs awarded in a single year since the awards were first presented in 2001. The award celebrates long-life asphalt pavements that reflect the characteristics of a Perpetual Pavement design. The award is presented to state DOTs and local agency road owners for well-performing asphalt pavements that are at least 35 years old with proven high-quality structural design.

OSHA Virtual National Stand-Down to Prevent Struck-by Incidents in Construction

The following information is from the OSHA Directorate of Cooperative and State Programs: Struck-by incidents are a leading cause of death among construction workers,[1] and since 1992 the leading cause of nonfatal injuries in the construction industry.[2] Through an effort coordinated by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) Construction Sector Council, CPWR – The Center for Construction Research and Training is hosting the first National Stand-Down to Prevent Struck-by Incidents during National Work Zone Awareness Week.
